Yoga classes in Shaldon, Devon

Book a class with me to practice yoga. Take time to do something for yourself with an opportunity to meet new people and learn something new. Group classes are £8 which can be paid online or with cash or by card at the time of the class.

There is no age limit to who can practice yoga and there are no prerequisites. You don’t need to be flexible enough to touch your toes or strong enough to do a push-up.

Yoga can be done by everyone.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, one of the main texts from which modern yoga comes from, states that:

Yogaḥ citta vṛtti nirodhaḥ

Yoga Sutras of Patanjali 1.2

The restraint of the modifications of the mind-stuff is Yoga

Translated by Sri Swami Satchidananda

Yoga was originally about reducing the turbulence of the mind. This was done by bringing awareness to the body and the breath – mainly through meditation.

Practicing postures or asana is one of the most common forms of yoga practiced in modern western society. It is a wonderful way of reducing turbulence in the mind by connecting the body and breath in a moving meditation and bringing the mind to focus on the present moment.

In my classes we will practice asana (postures), pranayama (breath regulation), dharana (concentration), and dhyana (meditation) to build strength and mobility in your body as well as helping to bring calmness and resilience to the mind.

Private 1:1s and small group classes can be organised. Please email or call me for more information.
